The reason I love films like Fences or TheFlorida Project is because they’re windows into seeing how people live and what their story is. Like there’s no character progression or anything for the protagonist to overcome in these kind of films. Instead, what’s fascinating is how these directors point this hypothetical window-camera at anyone or any group of people and document how they live and THAT’S the story!
